SALLIE MAE SMART OPTION STUDENT LOAN FOR UNDERGRADUATE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN MISSOURI
Sallie Mae is the largest provider of student loans in the United States. Through Sallie Mae International, eligible international students may apply for a Smart Option Loan. International students are eligible with a creditworthy co-signer (who must be a US citizen or permanent resident). To be eligible, students must also attend an eligible community college, or four- or five-year college or university at least half time and be working toward their degree.
The minimum loan amount is $1,000 with a maximum amount of up to the cost of attendance as certified by the student's school and confirmed by Sallie Mae, less other financial aid received. The maximum aggregate loan limit without a co-signer is $150,000; there is no aggregate loan limit with a co-signer.
Monthly interest-only payments are required during the in-school period and during the six-month separation period. Repayment of the loan may be up to 25 years, depending on the amount borrowed, with repayment beginning six months after leaving school or dropping below half-time status.
